Ottawa Professional Firefighters Association Benevolent Fund

 “Doing more than Fighting Fires”

“Community Service is part of who we are as Firefighters. It’s what we do at work....and for many of us, it’s also what we do on our off days”

The tradition of Firefighters raising money for charity, is not new to the Ottawa Professional Fire Fighters’ Association and for over 50 years the members of the OPFFA have dedicated countless hours raising money for those who need it the most and for those who strive to better this great community. We do this unconditionally because we care. It’s about caring and doing what we can to help, it’s about using our position within the Community to educate people about the needs surrounding us.

The Ottawa Professional Fire Fighters’ Benevolent Fund exists to support local charities in the Ottawa Region that are geared toward helping children and the elderly. Deserving organizations such as CHEO, Cystic Fibrosis, The Ottawa Hospital, The Royal Ottawa Hospital, Muscular Dystrophy have benefited from the fund.

In addition, and for the past 49 years in conjunction with the Salvation Army and local merchants, we have hosted the annual toy parade. The parade, which is viewed by over 120,000 StreetSide spectators and by thousands more when it is televised officially marks the season of giving. While enjoying the parade’s floats, marching bands, carolers and clowns, Firefighters walk along the parade route and collect toys and donations for the community’s underprivileged children. To date, over 800,000 toys have been distributed to underprivileged children in our community and millions of dollars have been raised for the causes we support.

Thank you for caring, your support will make a difference!
